Margarete DEUTSCH, born on January 6
th, 1914 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Oskar Deutsch (1884-1942, manufacturer) and Ilona Deutsch (née Feldmann, 1891-1942), lived in Vienna's 6
th district, Gumpendorfer Strasse 93, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 4
th and last year of her studies and took courses in English and German language and literature Studies.
She registered for the final exams ("Rigorosen") on January 17
th, 1938, but wasn't allowd to sit for them after the "Anschluss" in March 1938. After the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit his her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
Her younger brother
Friedrich Deutsch [Frederick Dunston], who studied at the Philosophical School, too, was also expelled from the University of Vienna. He could emigrate in time to England/Great Britain and survived.
She was deported from Vienna's 2
nd district, Czerningasse 8/20 to the Ghetto Litzmannstadt [Łódź]/Poland on October 28
th, 1941 (Transport "Wien IV"), her parents Oskar and Ilona Deutsch were also deported to Łódź only a few days later on November 2
nd, 1938, where her mother died on June 27
th, 1942, and her father on July 3
rd, 1942.
Margarete Deutsch did not survive either and perished in the Shoah - her exact date of death is not yet known.
