Helene SCHWARZ (later married PLECHATY), born on November 4
th, 1918 in Mödling/Lower Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Graz/Styria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Julius Schwarz (physician, 1884-1936) and his wife Anna, née Fischer (1891-1988), lived in Moedling, Hauptstrasse 48. After her father’s death the family moved to Vienna 9
th district, Pramergasse 31/4, in September 1936. Helene Schwarz had graduated from high school for girls ('Maedchen-Realgymnasium') in Moedling (Eisentorgasse 5).
One year later she enrolled in fall term 1937/38 at the Philosophical School of the University of Vienna in the 1
st year of her studies and took courses in pharmaceutics and chemistry.
After the "Anschluss" Helene Schwarz was expelled from the University of Vienna, as were her elder brother
Hans (John) Schwarz, who studied at the Medical School, and his colleague and later wife
Gerta Weiss (married: Schwarz).
Helene Schwarz could emigrate to Yugoslavia in the end of 1938, got married to Dragan Plechaty (1907-1983) and in April 1942 gave birth to her son George near Triest. Helene Plechaty returned to Austria after the war in 1948, to Schladming/Styria, than British occupation zone. A year later in 1949 she emigrated to the USA and lived there for the remainder of her life in New Jersey.
Helene Plechaty, née Schwarz, died on March 14
th, 1991 in New Jersey/USA.
