Samuel KAUFMAN, born on July 1st, 1912 in Trenton, New Jersey/USA (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Brooklyn, New York/USA, Citizenship: USA), son of Morris Kaufman (Brooklyn), lived in Vienna 8th district, Breitenfelder Gasse 14/5, from 1937 on in Vienna 9th district, Schwarzspanierstrasse 9/9.
Samuel Kaufman was enrolled finally in spring term 1937 in the 5th and last year of his studies ('Absolutorium' was certified on July 18th, 1938) and was preparing for the final exams ('Rigorosen') in 1938. He could finally finish his studies and graduated on July 21st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion". He as an American citizen had to declare that he is not willing to practice as a physician in the German Reich. He got married to his Viennese fellow student Berta Amstetter (born 1913) in Vienna, who also graduated on July 21st, 1938 with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion", for her as a former Austrian citizen of Jewish faith this included in the Third Reich that she was banned from her profession at the same tim. They emigrated to the USA in August 1938.
