Paul FRANKL, born on June 20
th, 1909, in Vienna (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna, Citizenship: Austria), son of Heinrich Frankl (1868-1944, merchant) and Gisela, née Schlesinger (1883-1942), lived in Vienna's 2
nd district, Obere Donaustrasse 65. He began to study at the Medical School of the University of Vienna in 1930 and was finally enrolled in spring term 1936 in the 5th year of his studies ("Absolutorium" was certified on July 18
th, 1938).
Frankl wasn't enrolled at the Medical School any more in 1938, but was preparing for the final exams ("Rigorosen"). He could finally finish his studies and graduated on July 21
st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion", which included at the same time that he was banned from his profession.

Elisabeth Frankl, who was enrolled at the University of Vienna in 1938, too, studied Romance language and literature was forced to leave the University of Vienna in 1938.
Together with his wife Gertrud, whom he had married 1939 in Vienna, and his parents Heinrich and Gisela, Dr. Paul Frankl was deported from Vienna's 2
nd district, Novaragasse 40/17, to Theresienstadt ghetto [Terezín/Czech Republic] on September 10
th, 1942 and further on to concentration camp Auschwitz [Oświęcim/Poland] on October 19
th, 1944. None of the family survived.
