Ottokar ARNOLD, born on December 22
nd, 1917 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Oberinspektor Karl Arnold (clerk), lived in Vienna's 13
th district (today: 14
th), Weinzierlgasse 9-11. He had graduated from high school ("Bundesgymnasium Wien 13") in June 1935 end started to study medicine at the University of Vienna in fall term 1936/37. He was enrolled in spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 2
nd year of his studies.
Allthough roman-catholic, he was discriminated as a so called "Mischling 2. Grades" and he could continue his studies at first - valid until revoked. After some uncertainties he could even finish his studies and graduated on March 9
th, 1942.
He lived and worked as a physician (psychiatrist) in Vienna, became assistant teacher in the 1950ies at the psychiatric university-clinic (head: Prof. Hans Hoff), and habilitated on June 13
th 1955 for "psychiatry and neurology" at the University of Vienna and got the title (not the position) of an extrordinary professor on May 5
th 1962. He was senior physician ("Oberarzt") at the psychiatr.ic-neurological university-clinic an married his student fellow Dr.
Susanna Hoefermayer (geb. Ceranke, 1921-2003), who was forced to leave the university in 1940 and was perpetrated as a "Mischling 1. Grades" and could graduate only in 1949. They lived in Vienna's 7
th district, Stiftgasse 21.
He died aged 90 on December 13
th, 2008 in Vienna and is burried at Vienna Central Cemetery.
