Margit GEIGER, born on June 5th, 1918 in Moson/Hungary (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna, citizenship 1938: Austria), daughter of Isidor Geiger (bandmaster, musician) and lived in Vienna's 7th district, Neubaugasse 64/19. She enrolled at the Medical School of the University of Vienna in fall term 1936/37 - in spring term 1938 she was in the 2nd year of her studies (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on May 25th, 1938).

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.

She escaped Vienna along with her later fiancee Otto Pordes (a fellow student) to Italy then UK. Her husband later became an industrial chemist. They had two children, her husband died on September 10th, 1991 in Windsor Berks/England of cancer.

Margit Pordes, née Geiger, passed away in her sleep on February 17th, 2014 having already met her first great grand child and while expecting the arrival of two more.
