Karl Otto LÖWENSTEIN, born on May 19
th, 1916 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of bacteriologist and serologist tit.ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr.
Ernst Löwenstein (1878-1950) and Dr.med. Wilhelmine (geb. Brill), lived in Vienna's 18
th district, Bastiengasse 61, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 4
th year of his studies - Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was issued on May 20
th, 1938.
He could not finish his studies and also lost his position as an unpaid demonstrator at the 1
st chair for anatomy (Prof. Sauser) but was forced to leave the university for racist reason in summer 1938, as was his father tit.ao. Univ.-Prof.

Hans Georg Löwenstein (1914-1988) unpaid assistant physician at the 1
st ophthalmic clinic (head: Prof. Meller).
He was able to emigrate to England and then to the USA. He was naturalized and changed his name to "LENERT". He married twice and is father to five children.
He died on August 26
th, 1966 in Sacramento (burried in Sierral Hill Memorial Park, Sacramento, CA, USA).
