Dr. Hans Georg LÖWENSTEIN, born on September 4, 1914 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of bacteriologist and sereologist tit.ao. Univ.-Prof.
Ernst Löwenstein (1878-1950) and Dr. med. Wilhelmine (geb. Brill), lived in Vienna's 18
th district, Bastiengasse 61, was unpaid assistant physician ("unbesoldeter Hilfsarzt") at the 1st ophthalmic clinic (head: Prof. Meller).
He had studied medicine at the University of Vienna and graduated there on December 21, 1937.
He lost his position and was forced to leave the university for racist reason in summer 1938, as was his father tit.ao. Univ.-Prof.
Ernst Löwenstein and his brother
Karl Otto Löwenstein (born 1916), unpaid demonstrator at the 1st chair for anatomy (Prof. Sauser) and in the 4th year of his medical studies.
He was able to emigrate to England and then from Liverpool to New York, arriving on June 19, 1939 in the USA.
He became a physician in California/USA and died on March 28th, 1988 in Contra Costa, California/USA.
