Gabriele BONDI, born on March 29th, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr.
Samuel Bondi (1878-1959, medical heart specialist and facultymember of the Medical School of the University of Vienna until 1938) and Helene Bondi, nee Hirsch (1892-1960), lived in Wien 8, Lange Gasse 67, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th year of her studies (Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was issued on November 16th, 1938).
Her cousin
Berta Bondi, who had studied at the Philosophcal School, was also expelled from the University of Vienna.
Gabriele BONDI had to complete her studies in Basel, Switzerland due to the Anschluss. She and her parents left Vienna on March 11, 1938, first staying with relatives in Budapest, and then making their way to Switzerland, England, and finally emigrated to the USA in 1940.
Gabriele Bondi got married in 1951 and had a son, Bernard Lobel, born in 1956. She spent most of her medical career working for the Government: first for the City of New York, then for the State of New York. For
several years, she worked as a specialist in treating Tuberculosis, later on she went back to school for a year (in New York City, Columbia University) and became board certified in Preventive Medicine. For some years she had a small private practice. She working until she became ill in late 1991. She passed away on February 25th, 1992 in New York.
