Henry Juda MESSINGER, born on April 25th, 1912 in New York City, NY/USA (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for New York City/USA, citizenship 1938: USA), son of Samuel Messinger (merchant, 761 E. 156th str. Bronx, New York City, NY) and Rose Messinger, née Ehrlich), lived in Hotel Zenit in Vienna's 9th district, Pelikangasse 18, was enrolled finally in the spring term of 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th year of his studies.
Under National Socialism, his study situation changed fundamentally - after the "Anschluss", as an American citizen, he was not subject to the Nazi racial laws, but as a Jew it was hardly possible for him to continue his studies at the University of Vienna (leaving certificate dated March 29th, 1938) and left Vienna and the University immediately and returned to the USA.
He married Beatrice Koblin (1917-2011) with whom he had two children: Maris S. Messinger (b. 1949) and Barry N. Messinger (b. 1952). They continued to live initially in New York, later in Hartford, CT and since the early 1990s in Southport, CT.
Henry J. Messinger died on February 3rd, 2002 in Fairfield, CT/USA.
