Boris MAGASANIK, born on December 19th, 1919 in Charkow/Russia [Charkiw/Ukraine] (no entitled residency and no citizenship: 'stateless'), son of Nanni Magasanik (private), lived in Wien 4, Schwindgasse 9, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Philosophical School in the 1st year of his studies and took courses in Chemistry and Physics (Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was issued on May 13th, 1938).
He emigrated to the USA in 1939 and could continue his studies after four years in the US-Army at Columbia University and graduated in 1948. He became a researcher and teacher at Harvard University in Boston and a Professor in Microbiology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT in 1960.
