David LANDWEHR, born on February 15
th, 1915 in Kolomea, Galicia(ustro-Hungarian Empire [later: Poland , today: Kolomyja/Ukraine] (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna, son of Max (Meschulim) Landwehr (1897-1942, merchant) and Marjem Landwehr (1882-1942), lived in Vienna's 5
th district, Nikolsdorfergasse 1. After graduation from high school ("Matura") in summer 1933 he enrolled at the University of Vienna. After fall term there was a longer break until fall term 1937/38 and he was finally enrolled in spring term 1938 at the Law School in the 2
nd regular year of his studies.
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
He tried to get an testimony for his time at the University of Vienna in 1945 as Lt. of the British Army.
He had to flee Vienna and was able to emigrate to Palestine [Israel]. His parents were deported on May 27
th, 1942 from Vienna's 2
nd district, Czerningasse 14 to Maly Trostinec near Minsk [Belarus] and murdered there on June 1
st, 1942.
David Landwehr entered the British army and requested after 1945 - as a lieutenant colonel of the British Army - for semester credit.
In Israel he took the name Dov LANDOR and became head of the
Government Press Office.
