Friedrich KUNZ, born on July 9
th, 1906 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Heinrich Kunz (1876-1930, official at the Austrian railway company OEBB) and Regina Kunz, née Winter (laundress, b. 1871), lived in Vienna's 12
th district, Flurschuetzgasse 23/54. After primary and secondary school ("Volks- und Buergerschule") he worked as an office boy, then left Austria to work abroad (1926 Brasilia, 1927 Amsterdam, 1929 Blumau, 1930 Triest) and after returning found an occupation as a controller at the Vienna-Baden-tram, in bwetween he was unemployed. As an extra-curricular participant her gained a highschool-graduation in 1934 ("Matura/Reifepruefung") and started his medical studies at the University of Vienna. As he had to work besides his studies, he could study only with some interruptions and was enrolled at the Medical School in 1938/39 in the 3rd year (fall term 1938/39 was valideted on March 22nd 1939).
He was discriminated as a so called 'Mischling 1. Grades' but could continue his studies at first - valid until revoked - but was not allowed to finish or graduate. However, he was arrested on August 25
th, 1940 for preparation of high treason and remained in custody until March 31
st, 1943, although the trial was still ongoing (preliminary proceedings against Skroch et al., at the People's Court in Berlin, Judicial Acts 8 J 179/41). Further applications for admission to continue his studies in 1943 were not answered. An academic degree and a doctor's license were out of reach in times of National-Socialism for him as a "Mischling 1. Grades".
He could continue his medical studies only after the end of National-Socialism and could finish on July 14th, 1948, earning his academic degree "Dr.med.univ.".
He became a physician and worked in the hospital of Lainz (Vienna) - first as aspirant, then as assistant doctor -, later as doctor in the nursing home for the elderly in Lainz (Vienna). In June 1954 he opened his own practice in Vienna's 15
th district, Pater Schwartzgasse 1/25-26, later Gablenzgasse 44/6/1/3-4 as a general practitioner. he retired in June 1968.
