Fritz KREISKY, born on May 20th, 1911 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Ivo and Elvira Kreisky, lived in Hadersdorf-Weidlingau, Heuplatz 122, was last enrolled in the winter term 1937/38 at the Philosophical School in the 7th year of his studies in chemistry ("Absolutorium" issued on February 28th, 1938). He had already registered for the final examinations ("Rigorosen") in chemistry on December 20th, 1937, and passed the first rigorosum on February 19th, 1938. On July 8th, 1938, he had also submitted his dissertation entitled "Rate of esterification of benzoic sulfonic acids, cyanobenzoic acids, glycolic acid and thioglycolic acid at 15 and 25 degrees with alcoholic hydrochloric acid" ("Veresterungsgeschwindigkeiten der Benzoesulfonsäuren, Cyanbenzoesäuren, Glykolsäure und Thioglykolsäure bei 15 und 25 Graden mit alkoholischer Salzsäure" (dissertation supervisor: Kailan, Spaeth), which had been approved on July 11th, 1938. On July 12th, 1938, he had also passed the second rigorosum. After a long period of insecurity, he was able to complete his studies and earn his doctorate on July 21st, 1938 under numerous symbolic discriminations in the context of a "non-Aryan promotion", while at the same time pronouncing a professional ban throughout the German Reich. He married his fellow student Selma Münz (1915-1987), who had to cancel her studies shortly before the dissertation in spite of existing rigorosen for racist reason in 1938 and only in 1949 could catch up with the doctorate at the University of Vienna. They were both able to emigrate to Shanghai and in 1947 to Sweden, where they continued to live and work (Their experiences in Shanghai Fritz Kreisky described in the unpublished text "Green for Shanghai", which is deposited in the Folklörelserna archive Gothenburg). He deceased om July 21st, 1987, aged 76 in Bergsjön, Gothenburg, Sweden  (one day before his wife).
To this day, every year in the fall, the "Selma och Fritz Kreiskys stipendium" is awarded to three medical students from the Sahlgrenska Academy of the University of Gothenburg, which is raffled among those applicants who have been studying for at least one year in the doctoral program.
