Hans Heinz Kaufler

Hans Heinz KAUFLER, born on June 13th, 1913 in Vienna, was the son of Ing. Hans Kaufler (born on August 11th, 1884 in Vienna-Hietzing, died in Dezember 1926 in Vienna, head of the company Sigmund Fürst & Co.) and his wife Margarete (Grete) Kaufler, nee Kriser (born in 1886). After he had graduated from high school ('Oberrealschule Freie Schulgemeinde Wickersdorf') in Wickersdorf near Saalfeld on Saale/Germany on February 26th, 1932, he began to study at the Philosophical School of the University of Vienna in spring term 1932.
Kaufler was finally enrolled at the Philosophical School in fall term 1936/37 and was preparing for the final exams ('Rigorosen') in 1938. He registered for the final exams in Geography on October 13th, 1938, and passed the first 'Rigorosum' on October 28th, 1938. His dissertation 'Die Veränderung der Siedlungslandschaft um Wien in der Nachkriegszeit 1918-1938' was accepted on October 19th, 1938, and he also passed the second 'Rigorosum' on October 31st, 1938. He could finally finish his studies and graduated on October 31st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a 'Nichtarierpromotion', which included at the same time that he was banned from his profession. Hans Heinz Kaufler finally lived in Vienna 1st district, Marc Aurelstrasse 22. He was arrested by the Gestapo on June 19th, 1940. He was deported to the Concentration Camp in Dachau (Nr. 12364).
He died on September 21st, 1942 at the 'Landesgericht' in Vienna and was buried at the Central Cemetery in Vienna/Jewish Department (IV. Tor, Gruppe 19, Reihe 20, Grab 12) bestattet on September 29th, 1942.
