Friedrich [Fred(erick) G.] Kantor [Kirby]

Friedrich KANTOR (later: Fred(erick) G. Kirby), born on May 28th, 1916 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Otto Kantor (1876-1966, insurance representative) and Erna (Zipora) Kantor, née Schuessler (1891-1982), lived in Vienna's 1st district, Neutorgasse 12, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Law School in the 2nd year of his studies and took courses in political science ("Staatswissenschaft"). In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna. He was able to emigrate to England with his family, but was interned there as an "enemy alien" in the Kitchener internment camp in Sandwich, England. He was unable to continue his studies, but worked as a bank clerk. Later he was in the British Army. There he met his future wife, Lisa Fuchs (1923-2004), born in Prague in 1923, who had emigrated from Czechoslovakia to England and who worked as a French and Czech translator in the Royal Air Force. He changed his name to Frederick G. Kirby and they married in April 1951 in Kensington, London/England. They were naturalized and became British citizens and lived at 10 Prince of Wales Terrace, London W 8. Shortly afterwards, on July 24th, 1951, Frederick G. Kirby emigrated with the "Mauretania" from Southhampton to the USA, arriving in New York on July 30th, 1951. On September 20th, his wife Lisa also arrived in New York with the "De Grasse". He later officially changed his first name from "Frederick" to "Fred" G. Kirby. They both lived initially in New York, later in nearby New Jersey (NJ), in 1990 at 1275 15th St. Apt 9g in Fort Lee, NJ and at 167 Oxford Ter, River Edge, NJ respectively, in 1993 at 1706 Muriel CT, Princeton, NJ, later in Lakewood, Ocean, NJ. Fred Kirby's father, Otto Kantor, had died in New York in November 1966, his mother, Erna Kantor, in January 1982 also in New York, his wife, Lisa Kirby, on February 4th, 2004 in Lakewood/NJ. Fred G. Kirby died at the age of 94 on September 7th/8th, 2010 in Lakewood, Ocean, New Jersey/USA.
