Marie Henriette KALLBERG, born on June 1
st, 1916 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Hugo Kallberg (lawyer, 1873-1949) and Maria Anna Kallberg, née Kornfeld (1881-1955), lived in Vienna's 9
th district, Dollfussplatz [Rooseveltplatz] 10, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 4
th year of her studies (Leaving Certificate ["Abgangszeugnis"] was issued on June 30
th, 1938).
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
Her father, Dr.iur. Hugo Kallberg, was expelled too from Vienna as a lawyer, as were her two older sisters, the jurist and trainee lawyer, Dr.iur. Edith Kallberg and the physician Dr.med. Hilda Kallberg. Both had completed their studies before the "Anschluss" and entered into their professions, but were expelled too.
She had to flee Vienna and was able to emigrate to Great Britain in 1939. She lived in Brentwood, Essex, then London and traveled to the United States in 1939, where her two older sisters had been living since 1938 - coming from Southampton. However, she subsequently lived in England, resumed her medical studies and graduated and became a British citizen.
Dr. Marie Kallberg died in 2006 in Barnet, London/Great Britain.
