Faculty: Law School
Category: Expelled student
Gotthold HATSCHEK, born on August 25th, 1914 in Vienna, Austro-Hungarian Empire [Austria] (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Ministerialrat Dr. Otto Hatschek (civil servant), , lived in Vienna's 19th district, Hofzeile 29. He was enrolled at the Law School from 1933 to 1937 and was no more enrolled in 1938, but was preparing for the final examinations ('Rigorosen'). In 1938 he was forced to quit his studies and to leave the University of Vienna for racist reason - allthough protestant ("evangelisch AB") not jewish - after the takeover of power of National-Socialism. But after numerous incertainties he could finally finish his studies and graduated on July 21st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion", which included at the same time that he was banned from his profession. He graduated as "Gottfried", not "Gotthold" Hatschek, presumably by mistake. About his further live and carreer there is know very little so far.
