Gerhart HAUPTMANN, born on February 23th, 1914 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Rudolf Hauptmann lived in Vienna 20th district, Klosterneuburgerstrasse 33/8, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th and last year of his studies ('Absolutorium' was certified on March 15th, 1939). In 1938 he was in danger to have to quit his studies and to leave the University of Vienna for racist reason after the takeover of power of National-Socialism. He was regarded as "Mischling 2. Grades" but he could finally finish his studies and graduated on March 17th, 1939 and was also admitted to the Vienna Medical Association ("Donauland") as a doctor on the same date. He initially lived in Vienna 9th, Liechtensteinstrasse 103 / 7a, later in Vienna 2nd, Lilienbrunngasse 13/14 and was married. He could not open his own practice as a socalled "Mischling" and had no employment as a doctor but was rather "on probation" drafted into the German Wehrmacht, Obergefreiter and bearer of the Iron Cross II, the Panzerkampfabzeichen and the East Medal 1941/42. He died on August 15th, 1942 "in the East".
