Karl GRAUS (born on June 23
rd, 1899 in Vienna as son of Josef Graus and Antonie Graus, née Apfel), had graduated at the Law School at the University of Vienna on December 19
th, 1923 with the academic degree 'Dr. iur.' and became a lawyer with his own prctice in Vienna's 1st district, Grruenangergasse 3, and lived in Vienna's 7th district, Mariahilfer Strasse 66.
In times of Nazism he was deprived of his academic degree on July 17
th, 1942 with the racist argument, that he as a Jew was not considered dignified an academic degree of a German university ("eines akademischen Grades einer deutschen Hochschule unwuerdig").
It took 13 years since the deprivation - and a very long time since the end of Nazism - until the regranting of the doctorate took finally place on May 15
th, 1955.
Dr. Karl Graus died on April 19
th, 1944 in Shanghai.
