Charlotte GLAESSER (married BEUGIN), born on March 24th, 1913 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residence: Vienna/Austria, citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Alois Glaesser (physician, 1865-1943) and Adele Glaesser, née Fischer (1875-1927), lived in Vienna's 4th district, Weyringergasse 27a.
After her school-leaving examination on July 5th, 1932 at Maedchenrealgymnasium des Frauenerwerbsverein in Vienna's 4th district, she had begun to study German Culture and Language Studies in the fall term WS 1932/33 and was last enrolled at the School of Philosophy in the spring term 1936. Charlotte Glaesser was not enrolled any more in 1938, but was preparing for the final exams ("Rigorosen"). She had already completed her dissertation entitled: "Gesellschaftsfragen in den Romanen von Carl Hauptmann" (supervised by the German Language Prof. Josef Nadler and Wilhelm Kralik) and it had been approved on December 1st, 1937. However, before she could sit for the two final examinations - the two-hour viva with Nadler, Kralik and the historian Prof. Wilhelm Bauer, and the one-hour viva with the psychologist Prof. Karl Buehler and the philosopher Robert Reininger, she was not allowed to sit for the examinations and to do her doctorate after the so-called "Anschluss" under National Socialism.

She had to flee Vienna after her father was also forced to close his medical practice in August 1938, and she was able to emigrate to Great Britain on July 5th, 1939 with a permit from the Auxillary War Services, Dept. for Employment. She lived and worked in 1939 and 1940 as a student nurse at the Royal Infirmary, Hull, England.
There she met the Canadian soldier of the R.C.E.M.E. Division, Jean (John) André BEUGIN (1914-1995), whom she married on April 14th, 1944 in Epsom/England and with whom she had two sons: Brian Allan and Ronald Edward Beugin.
Her father could not escape from Vienna in time and he was deported from Vienna to Theresienstadt [Terezin/Czech Republic] on April 22nd, 1942 where he died on April 7th, 1943 under the camp conditions there.
Charlotte Beugin came to Calgary with her husband as a "war bride" which resulted in many long lasting friendships in the "Alberta War Brides Association". She stopped working as a nurse and lived in Canada as a housewife and mother.

Charlotte (Lottie) Beugin, née Glaesser died at the age of 91 on April 22nd, 2004 in Alberta, Canada and is buried at Queens Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.
