Georg (George) GEYERHAHN, born on July 4th, 1913 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Dr. Siegfried Geyerhahn (lawyer) and his wife Marianne, nee Loewy, lived in Wien 19, Hartaeckerstraße 20, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 5th year of his studies, he succeeded in finishing his studies and graduated on October 31st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a 'Nichtarierpromotion', which included at the same time that he was banned from his profession.

He emigrated to New York City/USA via the Netherlands in 1938, where he arrived in December 1938. His sister Elisabeth (Lisa) had emigrated to America before. His father was deported to the concentration camp Dachau in 1938, but was released after a few months and emigrated together with his wife to the USA, too, where the family reunited.  Most of their extended family back in Austria, perished in the Shoa.
Georg Geyerhahn completed his medical internships in New York City and Durham, North Carolina, and his medical residency in Parkersburg, West Virginia. By the end of the year 1941 he settled in Lovell, Maine, and opened his first practice. He received the US-Citizenship and served as captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps until November 1945.
He worked as a physician in Portland, Maine. He served 44 years at the Maine Medical Center, and also at Mercy Hospital, Westbrook Community Hospital and the Barron Center. He was a member of numerous medical associations and societies.

George Geyerhahn died on August 1st, 2008 at the age of 95 in Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland County, Maine, and was buried on Riverside Cemetery in Cape Elizabeth. He was survived by his wife Nona A. Geyerhahn and his two sons, George R. Geyerhahn Jr. and Gordon T. Geyerhahn, four grandchildren (Benjamin, Jed, Nate, and John) and three great grand children (Vivienne, Grant and Rhys).
