Hans GERBER, born on August 28th, 1917 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, citizenship 1938: Austria), son of Dr.jur. Renée Dr. Gerber (1882-1951, lawyer, secretary general of the Austrian Association of Insurance Companies) and Eugenie Therese Gerber, née Neumann (1890-1968), lived in Vienna's 9th district, Liechtensteinstrasse 95/20, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 3rd year of his studies (spring term 1938 was validated on October 8th, 1938).
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason - he was regarded as "Mischling", although protestant - and to leave the University of Vienna (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on October 15th, 1938).
He was able to continue his studies at the University of Basel/Switzerland, where he received his doctorate in 1941.
Only after the end of National Socialism was he able to have his medical studies, which he had completed in Switzerland, nostrified at the University of Vienna in 1946, which also gave him a license to practice medicine in Austria. He then practiced from 1949-1961 as a specialist in ophthalmology in Klosterneuburg near Vienna with a second practice in Bruck a.d. Leitha/Lower Austria.
Dr. Hans Gerber died on October 8th, 1961.
