Maria ARONOWSKA (married WASILKOWSKA, later: ALEXANDER), born on January 5th, 1919 in Białystok/Poland (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Białystok/Poland, citizenship 1938: Poland), daughter of Sabataj Aronowski (engineer) and Rina (Lina) Szapiro Aronowska, had passed the school-leaving examination (Matura) at the Humanist Gymnasium in Białystok on June 4th, 1936 and came to Vienna in 1937 to study medicine here from the fall term of 1937/38. She lived in Vienna's 9th district, Pramergasse 9, was last enrolled in the spring term of 1938 at the Medical School in the 1st year of her studies.
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was dated July 12th, 1938).
Maria Aronowska later married Isaja (Alexander Daniel) Wasilkowski (Alexander) (1915–2002), of Białystok, a fellow medical student who as well was expelled from Vienna University in 1938.
They was forced to leave Vienna and Austria and were able to emigrate via Switzerland to Australia, were they changed surname "Wasilkowski" to "Alexander".
Maria Alexander (Wasilkowska), née Aronowska, died on January 21st, 1982 in Melbourne, VIC/Australia and is buried at Melbourne Chevra Kadisha - Springvale cemetery.
