Friedrich FEILCHENFELD (later Frederick HEINEGG), born on March 3rd, 1914 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for St.Gilgen/Salzburg, Citizenship: Austria), son of Franz Feilchenfeld (banker in Berlin), grandson of Max Feilchenfeld (1852-1922, President and Chairman of the Board of the Niederösterreichische Escompte-Gesellschaft) and of Eugene Koenig (manufacturer of industrial alcohol), attended the Grunewald high school ("Grunewald-Gymnasium") in Berlin until 1933. After he had graduated from high school, he began to study at the Medical School of the University of Vienna in spring term 1933. In fall term 1933/34 he studied at the German University in Prague [Czech Republic] and returned to the University of Vienna in spring term 1934. He lived in Vienna 9th district, Türkenstrasse 33, until fall term 1934/35, then moved to Vienna 6th district, Prinz-Eugenstrasse 42, and finally he lived in Vienna 19th district, Billrothstrasse 45, together with his father, who moved from Berlin to Vienna in 1936.
Feilchenfeld was finally enrolled in spring term 1938 at the Medical School. He was discriminated as a so called 'Mischling 1. Grades' but he could continue his studies at first - valid until revoked - and could even finish them and graduated on April 27th, 1939 'Dr.med.'. Fritz Feilchenfeld was able to emigrate to the USA in 1939. He settled in Brooklyn, New York City, changed his name to Frederick Heinegg and was licensed as a physician in New York. In 1964 Heinegg moved together with his wife and their ten children (three daughters and seven sons) from Brooklyn to Delhi in Delaware County, New York. There he first worked part-time at the Delaware County Home and Infirmary and built up a private practice at home. He also administered anesthesia at several hospitals (Stamford, Hancock and Delhi).
In 1978 he became wurde er medical director of the Delaware County Home and Infirmary. Frederick Heinegg retired from family practice in 1989 and from the directorship of the infirmary in 1992.
