Berta AMSTETTER (nee Beile Broche, recte SMAL BROCH, later married KAUFMAN), born on September 7th, 1913 in Sandowitz-Zedowice, Upper Silesia/German Empire [Żędowice//Poland (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Lucy Broch (cosmetician), lived in Vienna 9th district, Liechtensteinstraße 20/12.
Berta Amstetter was enrolled finally in spring term 1937 in the 5th and last year of his studies ('Absolutorium' was certified on July 18th, 1938) and was preparing for the final exams ('Rigorosen') in 1938. She could finally finish her medical studies and graduated on July 21st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion", which included at the same time that she was banned from her profession. She got married to her american fellow student Samuel KAUFMAN (born 1912), who also graduated on July 21st, 1938 with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion". He as an American citizen had to declare that he is not willing to practice as a physician in the German Reich. They emigrated together in August 1938 to the USA.
