Brunhilde DOMINICUS, born on February 13th, 1909 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Klosterneuburg/Lower Austria, Citizenship: Austria), without confession, daughter of Alexander Schwarcz (merchant in Klosterneuburg), lived in Viennnas' 9th district, Roten Löwengasse 15/7, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th and last year of her studies (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on April 28th, 1938). She was facing the final examinations but for racist reasons she could not continue and finish her studies under National Socialism  and was forced to leave the University of Vienna. On June 13th, she filed an application for emigration with the Jewish Community and tried to flee Vienna and tried to emigrate to Switzerland in order to complete her studies there. She was divorced at that time. She had lived in Klosterneuburg/Lower Austria until 1930, had married in 1930 and moved to Germany with her husband. In 1933, after the seizure of power by the National Socialists in Germany, she divorced and returned to Vienna to study medicine. From 1937 to March 24th 1938, she also worked as a trainee ("Hospitantin") at the heart station. She also worked journalistically as a correspondent and as a secretary, was shorthand and typewritten and spoke German, Hungarian, English and some French. She also hoped to have better chances to emigrate with this knowledge and experiences, but at that time she had no income of her own and lived on a small support from her divorced husband. She was supported by friends abroad to be able to pay her study fees for the degree andthey took the traveling expenses, but she was reliant on the support of the IKG for food and housing alone. As a single relative, she gives her bridegroom Dr. Helmut Zimmermann in Frankfurt / Main, also a doctor, with whom she wanted to emigrate together. How far they have succeeded so far can not yet be determined.
