Johann BRÄUNER, born on February 19
th, 1917 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Josef Bräuner (locksmith, old-age pensioner), lived in Vienna 5th district, Margaretenguertel 76-80/5/12.
After he had graduated from high school ('Realgymnasium') in Vienna 5
th district, Reinprechtsdorfer Strasse 24-26, he began to study at the University of Vienna in fall term 1935/36. Braeuner was enrolled in the fall term 1938/39 at the Medical School in the 4
th year of his studies (fall term 1938/39 was validated on April 5
th, 1939).
He was discriminated as a so called "Mischling 1. Grades" and was enabled to continue his studies at first - valid until revoked. When "Mischlinge" had to apply for admission to the Berlin Reichserziehungsministerium (Education Ministry) from the first trimester of 1940, Johann Braeuner submitted an application to continue his studies. He succeeded in completing his studies and was graduated to Dr.med. on April 5th, 1940. The doctoral degree, however, was provided with a "clause" stating that he was not authorized to practice as physician in the German Reich.
Dr. Johann Braeuner died in Vienna in 1986 at the age of 69 years and was burried at the cemetery in Hetzendorf.
