Alice ZWERGEL, born on December 8th, 1913 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Nathan Zwergel (born 1881 in Vienna, white-collar employee) and Kamilla Zwergel (born 1889 in Nagy-Surany). She lived in Vienna's 9th district, Waehringer Guertel 170, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th year of her studies. In the spring term 1938 she could continue her studies in the context of the Numerus clausus of Jewish Students until the end of the term.
She worked as "hospitierende" doctor in the hospital of the Jewish Community of Vienna until 1940. In 1940 she had to leave her flat and changed to a flat in the same district, Sechsschimmelgasse 10/4 and in 1941 to a flat in Berggasse 8/7. From there she was deported to Theresienstadt in October 1942, together with her parents and her brother (Robert Zwergel, born 1923 in Vienna). Two years later she was deported from there to Auschwitz. She survived and came back to Vienna in June 1945
In Vienna she married Johann Danihelka in 1945 and could finish her medical studies and graduated as a "Dr.med." on June 27, 1946 at the University of Vienna. In1950 she was accepted as a Physician for pediatrics and opened a practice in Vienna's 20th district, Allerheiligenplatz 2. In 1947 her daughter Elisabeth Christine was born and they lived in Vienna's 19th district, Peter Jordan Strasse 31.
Alice DANIHELKA, nee ZWERGEL passed away on April 11, 1963 in Vienna.
