Nathan Bernhard Adalbert WALD, born on December 14th, 1910 in Satu-Mare/Romania (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Satu-Mare/Romania, citizenship 1938: Romania), son of Samuel Wald (white-collar employee) and his wife, née Gottfried, lived in Vienna's 2nd district, Taborstrasse 11/12, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 5th and last year of his studies.

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason but fianlly succeeded in finishing his studies and graduated on June 28th, 1938 ("Absolutorium" was certified on June 27th, 1938) - because he couldn't be restricted by the German "Nuremberg Race Laws"as a Romanian citizen. But nevertheless he was not allowed to practice as a physician in the territories of the Third Reich.

He had to flee Austria, although his emigration route is unknown for the time being. Adalbert Wald, stateless at the time, flew with Air France on January 10th, 1961 from Mexico City/Mexico to New York City, NY/USA, where he lived with Peter de Balogh at 140 W 58th street. As "Adalbert Wald, M.D." he received U.S. citizenship in New York on June 7th, 1965 (he was still living at the same address at that time) and worked as a physician.

He died in June 1980 in Irvington, NY, USA.
