Ernst STRAUSS, born on June 15th, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Emil Strauss (merchant), lived in Wien 6, Linke Wienzeile 64/2/7 and worked as musician and merchant. He was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 1st year of his studies and took courses in Art History (in the spring term 1938 he requested to continue his studies in the context of the Numerus clausus of Jewish Students, but was rejected).
Together with his wife Kitty Hedda Goldmann (born 1918 in Vienna) he was deregistrated in August 1938 from his previous residence.
His name is mentioned at the monument 'Denkmal für Ausgegrenzte, Emigrierte und Ermordete des Kunsthistorischen Instituts der Universität Wien' at the Campus of the University of Vienna.
The exhibition "Ausgegrenzt, Vertrieben, Ermordet" (January 22nd - May 14th, 2010) at the Department of History of Art of the University of Vienna is dedicated to the memory of Ernst Strauss and 20 other former students of the University of Vienna focused on art history.
