Karl STEIN (later: Charles STEIN), born on November 28
th, 1919 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Davideni/Romania [Davydivka/Ukraine], Citizenship: Austria), son of Itzig Eirig (letterpress printer), lived in Vienna's 5
th district, Margaretenstrasse 76/6, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 1
st year of his studies (fall term 1937/38 was validated on February 12
th, 1938).
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
He had to flee Vienna and emigrated - meanwhile stateless - to Luxembourg in 1938 and further on to the USA in 1939. He became an US foreign service officer.
