Gerda SGALITZER born on October 13th, 1913 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of
a.o. Univ. Prof. Dr. Max Sgalitzer (university professor and physician), lived in Wien 9, Porzellangasse 37 was enrolled at the Medical School from fall term 1932/33 to spring term 1937. 'Absolutorium' was certified on July 9th, 1937 and in 1938 she was preparing for the final exams ('Rigorosen'). She could finally finish her studies and graduated on July 21st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a 'Nichtarierpromotion', which included at the same time that she was banned from her profession. Elisabeth Sgalitzer, who studied at the Philosophical School of the University of Vienna, was expelled in the second year of her studies, her cousin
Kurt Sgalitzer in the 5th and last year of hie medical studies.
Gerda Sgalitzer married in 1942 the Americam violinist Raphael Hillyer (1914-2010, co-founder of the Juilliard String Quartet) and they had three chldren: Nitra Hillyer (Canandaigua, N.Y.), Linda Hillyer (Jamaica Plain) and Jonathan Hillyer (Atlanta).
Gerda Hillyer, née Sgalitzer, commited suicide on October 11, 1961 in London durch Suizid and is burried in New Jersey/USA.
