Fritz SCHOCK, born on February 29th, 1912 in Vienna as son of Karl Schock (brushwood manufacture, salesman) and Mindel Schock, née Einziger (1881–1941), lived in Vienna's 17th district, Weißgasse 48 since 1933 and had studied law at the University of Vienna from the fall term 1931/32 to the spring term 1936. In 1938 he was no longer enrolled at the School of Law and Political Science, but was preparing for the final examinations (viva voca, "Rigorosen").
In 1938 he was forced to quit his studies and to leave the University of Vienna for racist reason after the takeover of power of National-Socialism. But after numerous incertainties he could finally finish his studies and graduated on July 21st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion", which included at the same time that he was banned from his profession.
He had to flee Austria and tried to escape already in May - still as a "student" - and again in September 1938 - as a "lawyer" - with his brother Robert Schock and his wife to the emigration destination "Mexico or South America" via the emigration office of the IKG Vienna. Whether this succeeded could not be determined.
His siblings managed to escape in time to Israel (sister Ester/Elli Schock, née Hirsch, (1922-after 2008) and to the USA (brother Ernst/Arnost Schock, 1910-1976 and brother Robert Schock, 1908-1974/1986). His mother Mindel Schock did not make it in time and was deported from Vienna to Litzmanstadt/Lodz in 1941 and murdered on October 23rd, 1943
