Szeindel SCHÄCHTER ( KURTZ ), born on October 5th, 1911 in Tarnów/Poland (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Tarnów/Poland, citizenship 1938: Poland), daughter of Feiwel Schächter (merchant in Tarnów), lived in Vienna's 9th district, Muellnergasse 35/9, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th and last year of her studies ("Absolutorium" was certified on July 10th, 1938).
In 1938 she was forced to quit her studies and to leave the University of Vienna for racist reason after the takeover of power of National-Socialism. But after numerous incertainties she could finally finish his studies and graduated on December 16th, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtarierpromotion", which included at the same time that he was banned from his profession.
She returned to Tarnów/Poland, which was soon afterward invaded and occupied by the German Reich, and married the journalist Jehuda Ber Kurtz (1910-1944).
According to her sister-in-law Ester Reizl Siskind, who emigrated to Brazil, Dr. Szeindel Kurtz, née Schächter, was shot in Tarnów in 1944, as was her husband.
