He was forced to flee Vienna, having previously resigned from the Jewish Community in August 1938 and converted to the Anglican Church. On September 14th, 1938, he married Dr. Elisabeth Groak (1916-2012) at the registry office in Vienna-Leopoldstadt before they were able to emigrate to Australia together with his mother-in-law, his brother Dr. iur. His mother Alice did not manage to leave in time and was deported from Vienna's 2nd district, Novaragasse 37 to Maly Trostinec/Poland on August 17th, 1942 and murdered there four days later.

George and Elizabeth Bing, as they called themselves in Australia, received Australian citizenship on September 23rd, 1944 and had two children: Bernard Charles (b. 1942) and Joan Alice (b. 1946, teacher). Herbert George Bing worked in Australia in the chemical industry - Timbrol Ltd., Union Carbide Australia, Geigy Ag J R - and obtained numerous patents in the 1950s and 1960s.

George H. Bing died on May 9th, 1979 in Balwyn, Melbourne, and was buried at Springvale Cemetery, Greater Dandenong City, Melbourne, VIC/Australia.
