Fritz Pordes

Fritz PORDES, born on May 16th, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, citizenship 1938: Austria) was the son of Johann Pordes (1886–1950, salesman for crockery, later: unemployed) and Rifka Rachel/Regine Pordes, née Weissenberg (1887–1945), and lived in Vienna's 2nd district, Große Mohrengasse 34/10. He graduated from highschool - Realgymnasium Wien XX - in 1934 and started his medical studies in fall term 1934/35. He was enrolled last in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 4th year of his studies.

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on June 22nd, 1938).

Fritz Pordes had to flee Vienna and was able to emigrate to France, where he lived partly in hiding in an abandoned train station. After the end of the war, he married Gladys Claire Mélannie Anuzet (1927–2011), the daughter of the couple who made it possible for him to go into hiding, on December 21, 1946 in Berlaimont/France, and their son Réginald Pordes was born soon afterwards.
His parents survived in Vienna, his sister Edith Pordes (1912–1994) was able to emigrate to Palestine [Israel].

Frédéric Pordes died on November 22nd, 1999 in Le Quesnoy/France.
