Marianne Pick

Marianne PICK, born on April 14th, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Robert Pick (31.08.1885-02.02.1967, high school professor) and Paula Pick (25.01.1886-27.06.1972, née Fischer), lived in Vienna's 9th district, Gruenentorgasse 17, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 4th and last year of her studies and took courses in German and English language and literature Studies In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism  she was only allowed to continue her studies in June 1938 in the context of the Numerus clausus of Jewish Students that ended only two months later. She was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna without graduation. She had to flee from Austria and could emigrate with her parents to London, England/Great Britain in 1939. She became a teacher in German Language and Culture at the Rosebery School for Girls in Epsom, Surrey, England in the 1960ies and 1970ies. She died on March 20th, 1975 in Paddington, Greater London, England/Great Britain.
