Stefan ADLER, born on February 9th, 1916 in Budapest, Hungary/Austro-Hungarian Empire (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Guessing/Burgenland, citizenship 1938: Austria), son of Dr. Adalbert Adler (1885-1930, lawyer) and Ilona Adler, née Ehrlich (1889-1974), lived in Vienna's 4th district, Lambrechtgasse 12, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Law School in the 4th and last year of his studies.
After the takeover of power of National-Socialism in March 1938 he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason without a chance to graduate. He requested to continue his studies in the context of the 2% Numerus Clausus of Jewish Students, was first allowed to continue for about two months, but finally had to leave the University of Vienna.
After the "Anschluss" 1938, Stefan Adler was able to flee from Austria to Finland, where he married Vienna born Helene Kerö (1918-1982) on May 3rd, 1940. The couple had one son, Tomas Adler.
Later they emigrated to Stockholm/Sweden, where Stefan Adler lived until his death on May 9th, 1994.
