Siegmund KAUF, born on June 9th, 1917 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Hermann Kauf (merchant), lived in Wien 2, Zirkusgasse 28/6, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 2nd year of his studies. His younger brother
Friedrich Kauf, who studied at the Medical School, too, was also expelled from the University of Vienna.
Siegmund Kauf emigrated to the USA in 1939 but couldn't continue his studies any more. He found employment in a department store. During the war years, he worked in an airplane factory on Long Island that manufactured P-38 fighter planes. After the war, he returned to retailing and in the 1960s, he was able to purchase two department stores. He died on August 27th, 1975.
