Dr. jur. Leopold UNGAR, born on August 8th, 1912 in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria/Austro-Hungarian Empire (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') 1938 for Eisenstadt, Burgenland/Austria, Citizenship 1938: Austria), son of Gustav Ungar (merchant), lived in Wien 9, Boltzmanngasse 9, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Roman Catholic-Theological School in the 4th year of his studies (in the spring term 1938 he could continue his studies in the context of the Numerus clausus of Jewish Students until the end of the term).
He emigrated to France in 1938, became a priest in Paris in 1939, continued his emigration in 1940 to England. He returned to Austria in 1947, became Head of the Caritas of Vienna in 1950, 1963 Prelate, 1964-1991 Head of the Caritas of Austria.
