Klara Haspel

Klara HASPEL, born on December 16th, 1914 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Moses Haspel (butcher) and Chana, née Schor, lived in Vienna's 20th district, Spaungasse 23/24, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Philosophical School in the 3rd year of her studies and took courses in Romance languages and literature Studies and History.

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.

She had to flee Vienna and was able to leave in time for England in 1938 with a domestic service permit and from there on April 22nd, 1939 with the SS Oronsay on to Sydney, NSW/Australia, where she arrived on May 23rd, 1939.
She became an Australian citizen on July 12th, 1945 and lived at that time in St. Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria/Australia.

Little is known so far about her further life.
