Johannes FRISCHAUF, born on May 8
th, 1919 in Vienna, (entitled residency: Vienna, citizenship: Austria), son of Dr. Hermann Frischauf (physician), and of Dr. Marie Frischauf-Pappenheim, lived in Viennas' 1
st district, Rathausstr. 11. He had graduated from highschool (“Realgymnasium”) in Klosterneuburg/Lower Austria on October 12
th, 1937 and had enrolled at the Medical School for fall term 1937/38.
He was finally enrolled in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 1
st year of his studies (spring term 1938 was validated on October 1938, leaving certificate was issued on December 6
th, 1938). Although Protestant, he was discriminated as a so called "Mischling 1. Grades". He could continue his studies later - valid until revoked - but he could not finish his studies, allthough he took all the examinations successfull but was rather banned from his profession.
His fellow student and later wife Dr. Hermine Loew-Beer, also dicriminated as "Mischling 1. Grades", could continue with her medical studies with restrictions and could also finally finish her studies at the University of Vienna in times of National-Socialism.
Only after the end of National-Socialist regime he was able to earn his docotral degree and was graduated in the first promotion ceremony after world War II on June 8th 1945, backdated to October 2
nd, 1943.
After Wold War II he became professor for nuclear medicine at the I. internal medical clinic at the University of Vienna.
He deceased on May 12
th, 2015 in Vienna.
