Herbert GOLDSTAUB (later: GALTON), born on October 1st, 1917 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Lwów/Poland, Citizenship: Poland), son of Karl Goldstaub (salesman, deceased), lived in Vienna's 7th district, Westbahnstrasse 35, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Philosophical School in the 3rd year of his studies and took courses in Slavic Studies, Oriental Studies and History. In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna. He emigrated to Great Britain in 1939 and succeeded in finishing his studies abroad in 1951. He returned to Vienna/Austria, later on became Professor at the University of Kansas, USA from 1962 to 1988. >>> More biographical details only in >>> German - to be translated soon.
