Gertrud KLEMPNER, born on March 1st, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Artur Klempner ((1879–1942, salesman) and Stefanie Klempner, née Doeri (1877–42), lived in Vienna's 4th district, Weyringergasse 27. On June 15th, 1934, she had passed her secondary school-leaving examination (Reifepruefung/Matura) at the Girls' Realgymnasium des Frauenerwerbsvereins in Vienna 4, and on July 14th, 1934, she resigned from the Jewish Community before beginning to study at the University of Vienna in the fall term of 1934/35. She was enrolled finally in the spring term of 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 4th and last year of her studies and took courses in Histroy, German and Romance language and literature Studies. In the spring term 1938 she could continue her studies in the context of the 2%-Numerus clausus of Jewish Students until the end of the term. She started the procedure of the final examinations on October 1st, 1938 and succeeded in the first viva voce ("Rigorosum") on October 28th, 1938, but then the procedure was interrupted for racis reasons and she was forced to leave the University of Vienna without graduation. Her younger sister Helene Klempner (maried: Wimbush), who studied at the Philosophical School, too, was also expelled of the University of Vienna. Gertrud Klemperer had to flee Vienna and was able to emigrate to Great Britain in 1938 in time with a domestic service permit and was in 1939 a maid in Perry Greey, Herts, Hertfordshire in England and was exempted from the internment of enemy aliens at the beginning of the war. Her parents were unable to escape from Vienna in time and were both deported from Vienna's 1st, district Schultergasse 1/9, to Maly Trostinec near Minsk [Belarus] on June 2nd, 1942, and murdered. Gertrud Klemperer married Andre Charles Laubier (1923-2006) in 1950 and continued to live and work in England as Gertrude M. Laubier, lastly at 4 St. James Park, Bath, Somerset/England. Gertrude Maria Laubier, née Klempner, died on March 17th, 1999 in Bath, Somerset/England and is buried at Haycombe Cemetery and Crematorium there.
