Gertrud BINDERMANN, born on April 29th, 1916 in in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Max Bindermann (lawyer, 1880-1960), lived in Vienna's 19th district, Schegargasse 3, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Philosophical School in the 3rd year of her studies and took courses in Psychology. In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
Her younger sister Hedwig Bindermann (Burger), who studied at the Medical School, was also expelled from the University of Vienna. They had to flee from Vienna with their family - their father, who had received his doctorate in law from the University of Vienna in 1906 and had worked as a lawyer in Vienna since 1919, lost his license to practice law in 1938 for racist reasons and had to close his office in Vienna's 1st district, Hohenstaufengasse 9.
On November 6th, 1938, the family was able to emigrate to England/Great Britain and lived in London, where her parents opened a boarding house in 110, Greencroft Gardens in London N.W. 6, and Gertrud Bindermann worked there as an unpaid domestic and her sister as a dietetic assistant. Both were not interned as "enemy aliens" after the break out of World War II and Gertrud did not marry but stayed with her parents and they and worked in Hamsteadt, England. Gertrud Binderman deceased in the age of 50 on July 16th, 1966 in Hamstead, London, England/Great Britain.
