Filip PINES, born on June 13^th, 1914 in Stanislawów, Galicia/Austro-Hungarian Empire [later: Poland, today: Iwano-Frankiwsk|Івано-Франківськ/Ukraine] (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Stanislawów/Poland, citizenship 1938: Poland), son of Ing. Bernhard Pines (civil servant), lived in Vienna's 16^th district, Friedrich-Kaiser-Gasse 96, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5^th year of his studies (spring term 1938 was validated on October 17^th, 1938).

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on April 6^th, 1939).
