Erika SCHECHNER, born on November 24^th, 1916 in Vienna/Austro-Hungarian Empire (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Ulrich Schechner (1876–1942, clerk, unemployed) and Malwine Schechner, née Faerber (1889–1942), lived in Vienna's 6^th district, Stumpergasse 16. She was enrolled finally in the spring term of 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 4^th and last year of her studies and took courses in History and Romance languages and literature Studies (in the spring term of 1938 she was allowed to continue her studies on May 30^th, 1938 in the context of the Numerus clausus of Jewish Students until the end of the term in July). Under National Socialism, she was forced to abandon her studies and leave the University of Vienna for "racist" reasons. She had to flee Vienna and was able to emigrate in time. Her parents did not manage to escape in time: They were deported from Vienna's 4^th district, Tilgnergasse 3/2, to Riga/Latvia on January 26^th, 1942, and murdered there. Little is known so far about the further life of Erika Schechner.
