Djordje VADNAI, born on July 23^rd, 1915 in Gödöllö/Austro-Hungaria [Hungary] (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Subotica/Yugoslavia [Serbia], Citizenship: Yugoslavia), son of Abraham Vadnai (teacher), lived in Vienna's 2^nd district, Obere Donaustrasse 84a /10, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 4^th and last year of his studies and took courses in History, Slavic Studies and Oriental Studies. He registered for the final examinations ('Rigorosen') on December 3^rd, 1937 and passed the first of two Rigorosen on January 22^nd, 1938. After the takeover of power of National-Socialism ("Anschluss", March 1938) he was no more allowed to take the second and final exam was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna without graduation. He could escape from Vienna in time and survived the NS-era. After the end of National Socialism, he contacted the University of Vienna again, and on January 8^th, 1948, the university issued him an Absolutorium (confirmation of fulfilment of all study requirements for admission to a doctorate), but there was no approved dissertation or doctorate from Djorde Vadnai in Vienna until 1960.
