Franz LENGH (born on October 9th, 1910 in Vienna, Austro-Hungaria, died on September 14
th, 1970 in Haifa, Israel) was assistant teacher ("Hochschulassistent 3. Klasse") at the pathological-anatomical Institute (head: Prof. Chiari) at the Medical School of the University of Vienna and lived in Vienna's 6
th district, Schmalzhofgasse 12.
He had studied medicine at the University of Vienna and passed the final examinations ("Rigorosen") in March 1932 and graduated on May 23rd, 1935 and gained the degree of a "Dr. med. univ.". He was appointed on December 1
st, 1936 to assistant teacher 3
rd class at the pathological-anatomical institute.
He was persecuted in times of Nazism for racist reason as a Jew and lost his position in pathological-anatomical institute in May 1938 and was forced to leave the university.
After his release, he married Frieda Fischer (born 1911) in Vienna on August 30
th, 1938 and worked for three months as an assistant physician and nurse in the hospital of the Jewish Community in Vienna before he could flee from Austria and could emigrate to the United States in early 1939 where he lived with his wife and his son Peter Lengh in Galesburg, Illinois/USA and worked as a doctor, specialized in pathology.
He died on September 14
th, 1970 in Haifa, Israel.
